| Main activities | RFE/RL, INC. (Korporācija) mērķi un misija ir veicināt demokrātiskās vērtības un institūcijas, ziņojot par jaunumiem valstīs, kurās brīvā prese no valdības puses ir aizliegta vai nav pilnībā izveidota un, to veicinot, Korporācijas žurnālistiem sniegt to, ko daudzi cilvēki nevar iegūt uz vietas: ziņas bez cenzūras, atbildīgu diskusiju un atklātas debates. Šie Korporācijas mērķi un misija ir balstīta uz pārliecību, ka pirmā demokrātijas prasība ir labi informēti pilsoņi un šim nolūkam Korporācija (1) iesaistās neatkarīgā žurnālistikā, lai sniegtu godīgas un objektīvas ziņas, analīzi un diskusijas par vietējiem, reģionāliem un starptautiskiem jautājumiem, kas ir būtiski veselīgai demokrātijai un tirgiem; (2) stiprina pilsonisko sabiedrību, paužot demokrātiskās vērības; (3) cīnās pret visa veida neiecietību un veicina savstarpēju sapratni starp tautām; (4) nodrošina paraugu vietējiem plašsaziņas līdzekļiem, palīdz apmācībās, lai uzlabotu mediju profesionalitāti un neatkarību, un attīsta partnerattiecības ar vietējiem plašsaziņas līdzekļiem. Saskaņā ar iepriekš minēto Korporācija (a) iesaistās neatkarīgā, profesionāli kompetentā un atbildīgā žurnālistikā; pastāvīgi sniedz uzticamas un autoritatīvas, precīzas, objektīvas un visaptverošas ziņas; veic savu žurnālistiku atbilstoši augstākajiem profesionālajiem standartiem; un tādējādi veicina tiesības uz uzskatu un vārda brīvību, tostarp brīvību meklēt, saņemt un izplatīt informāciju un idejas, izmantojot jebkurus plašsaziņas līdzekļus un neatkarīgi no robežām, saskaņā ar Vispārējās cilvēktiesību deklarācijas 19.pantu un tādējādi, ka atklāta informācijas un ideju komunikācija starp pasaules tautām veicina starptautisko mieru un stabilitāti; un (b) saglabā žurnālistikas satura integritāti, kas līdz šim tika pārraidīts tādās ģeogrāfiskās vietās kā Radio Brīvā Eiropa un Radio Brīvība. |
